At the age of 13, Peace’s life changed dramatically when he survived a bomb blast in Kisoro. The tragic incident resulted in the amputation of both her hands and severe nerve damage to her legs. What could have marked the end of his dreams instead became the beginning of an extraordinary journey of resilience, determination, and hope.
Despite facing immense physical and emotional challenges, Peace refused to abandon her education. After months of intensive medical treatment and rehabilitation, she made the courageous decision to continue his studies. Unable to write on her own, she sat for his secondary school examinations as a private candidate with the support of a scribe.
Her determination paid off. Peace not only passed her examinations but achieved an outstanding grade that opened doors to higher education. She went on to earn an Honors Degree in Economics and later a Master’s Degree in Social Work.
Today, Peace is a globally recognized disability rights advocate, an international motivational speaker, and a champion for inclusive education. Through his work, he inspires thousands of people around the world to overcome adversity and believe in their potential.
Peace’s story is a powerful reminder that disability does not define a person’s future. With access to education, opportunity, and support, persons with disabilities can achieve remarkable success and become leaders of change in their communities and beyond.
At CeDIRI, we remain committed to promoting inclusive education and ensuring that every child and young person with a disability has the opportunity to learn, thrive, and reach their full potential.
